Overview:
Heavy Highway Construction Firm is searching for a hands-on professional with in-depth operational experience in the mining industry who can successfully utilize that experience to identify expansion targets and “greenfield” opportunities to develop as a member of our business development team. This is a TN-based position with travel throughout the U.S. as needed. Position reports to the Vice President of Business Development.
Responsibilities:
- Identifies and develops new and existing leads related to companies and greenfield properties that can be acquired
- Builds relationships with owners of target businesses and landowners.
- Coordinates all aspects of determining if a target business or greenfield is a fit with company, including geological assessment, core drilling, mine planning, mine operations and zoning.
- Able to understand and comprehend financials and acquisition models to determine the benefits to company.
- Project manages both internal and external resources leading to successful acquisition and integration.
- Tracks businesses in our sector and identifies emerging business trends.
- Helps to shape the company’s long-term objectives and plans for how to meet them.
- Researches and identifies new markets.
- Travels to evaluate markets, prospective target businesses and greenfields and new/emerging business opportunities.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in mine engineering, geology, business administration, marketing, or related field. Master’s degree a plus.
- 5-10+ years’ experience in geological assessment, mine planning, mine operations or related areas.
- In-depth experience with geological assessments and mine planning.
- Successful project management of acquisitions and their integration.
- Market and product knowledge in the construction-aggregates space and the mining sector generally.
- Relationship management and negotiation skills.
- Financial and business acumen and strategic planning skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively and concisely about company culture to outsiders, including owners of prospective target businesses and greenfields who are unfamiliar with firm.
