Job Summary:
The Traveling Asphalt Paving Superintendent will oversee and manage all aspects of asphalt paving operations on various projects nationwide. This role requires extensive travel and hands-on involvement in project execution. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in asphalt paving, excellent leadership skills, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of quality and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Management: Plan, coordinate, and supervise all phases of asphalt paving projects, ensuring timely and on-budget completion.
- Field Oversight: Actively manage on-site operations, including crew supervision, equipment management, and material handling.
- Quality Control: Implement quality control measures to ensure compliance with project specifications, local regulations, and safety standards.
- Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a diverse team of operators, laborers, and subcontractors, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.
- Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, subcontractors, and project stakeholders, ensuring clear and effective communication throughout the project lifecycle.
- Problem Solving: Address and resolve any issues or challenges that arise on-site promptly and effectively.
- Safety Compliance: Ensure adherence to all safety protocols and procedures, promoting a culture of safety among team members.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate project records, including daily reports, progress updates, and compliance documentation.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as an Asphalt Paving Superintendent or in a similar role, with a strong background in airport and highway paving projects.
- In-depth knowledge of asphalt materials, paving techniques, and equipment operations.
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with changing priorities.
- Willingness to travel extensively across the USA, often on short notice.
- Valid driver’s license; CDL preferred.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., OSHA, PMP) are a plus.
