A rapidly growing metals recycling company with operations spanning across multiple locations in the southeast seeks a seasoned Safety Professional to join the team.
Position Overview:
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in occupational health and safety, with a particular focus on the metals recycling industry. This position will be responsible for overseeing safety and compliance across all of our locations, ensuring that our employees are working in a safe environment and that our operations are meeting all regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive safety program for the company, including policies, procedures, and training materials.
- Conduct regular safety audits and inspections at all locations to identify hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
- Collaborate with operations and maintenance teams to identify and address safety concerns, including equipment and facility upgrades.
- Investigate and report on all safety incidents, including near-misses, and develop action plans to prevent future occurrences.
- Develop and maintain relationships with regulatory agencies, industry organizations, and other stakeholders to stay informed about changes in safety regulations and best practices.
- Provide leadership and guidance to management, operations & maintenance teams, including setting goals, managing performance, and promoting a culture of safety throughout the organization.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety, engineering, or a related field PREFERRED
- At least 5 years of experience in a safety leadership role, preferably in the metals recycling or a related heavy industrial industry
- Strong knowledge of safety regulations, including OSHA, EPA, and DOT requirements.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with employees at all levels of the organization.
- Proven ability to develop and implement safety programs that reduce incidents and improve safety culture.
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP) preferred
