Overview:
The Maintenance Manager oversees all maintenance activities at a busy metals recycling yard, focusing on the upkeep and repair of the balers, shears, and a mobile fleet of 10+ assets. This hands-on role requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and a commitment to safety and efficiency. The Maintenance Manager will lead a team of five direct reports, ensuring that all equipment operates at peak performance to support continuous yard operations.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise, train, and support a maintenance team of five technicians, fostering a culture of safety, productivity, and accountability.
- Schedule and assign daily tasks, manage performance, and provide feedback to support team development.
- Oversee all preventive and corrective maintenance for Harris balers, shears, and other heavy recycling equipment.
- Perform hands-on repairs and adjustments to equipment as needed to ensure minimal downtime.
- Manage the mobile fleet, including diagnostics, repairs, and routine servicing for loaders, trucks, and forklifts.
- Maintain strict adherence to safety protocols and procedures, ensuring compliance with industry regulations.
- Conduct regular inspections and safety audits, implementing improvements as needed.
- Oversee parts inventory, manage maintenance budgets, and coordinate with vendors for necessary supplies and repairs.
- Track and document maintenance activities, costs, and equipment status in maintenance management software.
Requirements:
- 5 Years Metals Recycling Industry Maintenance Experience.
- 3+ Years Recycling Maintenance Supervisory or Maintenance Experience.
- Proficiency with Harris balers and shears; experience with mobile fleet maintenance.
- Strong supervisory skills with experience managing a maintenance team.
- Mechanical, hydraulic, or welding certifications are a plus.
