Overview:
Southern Metals Recycling Company seeks a dedicated and experienced Non-Ferrous Manager to oversee the non-ferrous metal recycling operations. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the day-to-day activities of the warehouse, ensuring efficient operations, and maintaining high standards of safety and compliance.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise and coordinate the activities of warehouse staff (10+) involved in the handling, sorting, and processing of non-ferrous metals.
- Implement and maintain effective inventory management practices to ensure accurate stock levels and minimize shrinkage.
- Develop and enforce safety protocols and procedures to create a safe working environment for all warehouse personnel.
- Collaborate with the commercial team to optimize material sourcing and procurement strategies.
- Oversee the maintenance and upkeep of warehouse equipment and facilities to ensure smooth operations.
- Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards related to environmental, health, and safety regulations.
- Manage vendor relationships and negotiate pricing and terms for the purchase and sale of non-ferrous metals.
- Implement quality control measures to ensure the integrity and purity of recycled non-ferrous metals.
- Provide leadership and guidance to warehouse staff, including training and development opportunities to enhance their skills and performance.
Requirements:
- 5+ years non-ferrous operations experience.
- Proven experience in a supervisory or managerial role within the metal recycling industry, preferably with a focus on non-ferrous metals.
- Strong knowledge of non-ferrous scrap pricing, grading, and processing.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to effectively manage a diverse team.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements and industry standards related to metal recycling operations.
- Proficiency in inventory management software and Microsoft Office suite.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
