Overview:
Leading Metals Recycling company seeks a seasoned Operations Manager to oversee the daily activities of a large non-ferrous facility with ferrous shredding & shearing operations, capable of processing over 10M lbs. non-ferrous and +10K GTs ferrous scrap metal monthly.
Responsibilities:
- Supervises and coordinates all aspects of the ferrous and nonferrous operations including sorting, processing and shipment.
- Ensures the proper maintenance and efficient operation of all equipment.
- Oversees the logistics of inbound and outbound materials, optimizing transportation and warehouse utilization.
- Leads, mentors, and trains production, logistics, and maintenance personnel.
- Conducts performance reviews and identifies development opportunities for staff.
- Fosters a positive and productive work environment focused on teamwork, accountability, and safety.
- Develops and manages operational workflows to maximize productivity and throughput while maintaining high standards of quality and safety.
- Coordinates with the commercial team on profitable items, pricing strategies, and inventory control.
- Develops & implements process improvements to increase efficiency, safety and flow.
- Builds and maintains strong relationships with suppliers, customers, and transportation partners.
- Assists with the preparation of the annual operating budget for the facility.
- Monitors operating costs and implements cost-saving measures without sacrificing quality or safety.
- Tracks expenses and works within budgetary constraints while maintaining high service levels.
- Maintains accurate records of inventory, production schedules, and compliance documentation.
- Ensures all financial transactions and records are properly documented for auditing and reporting purposes.
Requirements:
- 7+ years of metals recycling industry operations experience
- 5+ years ferrous or nonferrous management experience
- Proven track record of managing teams and achieving operational goals in a production environment.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and decision-making skills.
- Knowledgeable of nonferrous metal recycling processes, equipment and maintenance.
- Familiarity with environmental regulations and safety standards.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Bachelor’s degree in Operations Management a related field preferred.
