Overview:
The Shipping and Receiving Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the shipping and receiving operations within the metals recycling facility. This role includes managing staff, coordinating logistics, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and optimizing processes to enhance efficiency and productivity.
Responsibilities:
- Lead, train, and motivate the shipping and receiving team.
- Assign tasks and monitor staff performance to ensure productivity and accuracy.
- Schedule and coordinate shipments of recycled metals to customers and suppliers.
- Ensure timely delivery and receipt of materials, managing logistics providers as necessary.
- Maintain accurate records of incoming and outgoing materials.
- Conduct regular inventory audits to reconcile physical counts with system records.
- Oversee the inspection of incoming and outgoing shipments for compliance with quality standards.
- Address any discrepancies or issues promptly to minimize disruptions.
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company policies.
- Conduct regular safety training for staff and maintain a safe working environment.
- Analyze shipping and receiving processes to identify areas for improvement.
- Implement best practices to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
- Prepare reports on shipping and receiving activities, inventory levels, and operational performance for management review.
Requirements:
- Proven experience in shipping and receiving operations in the metals recycling industry.
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or certifications in logistics or supply chain management preferred.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Proficient in inventory management systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Knowledge of safety regulations related to shipping and handling of metals.
