Overview:
A well-known metals recycling organization seeks a hands-on Environmental, Health & Safety Manager to lead safety and environmental performance across several facilities. The EHS Manager will oversee safety and environmental programs for multiple industrial locations, including recycling, processing, and automotive operations. This individual will serve as the primary advisor to site leadership, ensuring regulatory compliance while implementing practical, real-world solutions that keep employees safe and operations running efficiently.
Responsibilities:
- Lead EHS initiatives across several assigned facilities
- Conduct site visits, audits, and risk assessments to identify hazards and improvement opportunities
- Work with operations leaders to implement corrective actions and preventative measures
- Manage incident investigations, root cause analysis, and follow-up actions
- Oversee required reporting, recordkeeping, and regulatory submissions
- Coordinate safety and environmental training for employees and supervisors
- Support facility readiness for agency inspections and audits
- Maintain permits, compliance documentation, and EHS records
- Champion a culture focused on accountability, awareness, and continuous improvement
- Drive rollout of company-wide safety programs and initiatives
Requirements:
- 3+ years metals recycling industry environmental, health & safety experience
- Solid knowledge of workplace safety regulations and environmental compliance requirements
- Familiarity with environmental permitting and reporting
- Background supporting regulatory inspections or audits
- Strong communication skills with the ability to influence at all organizational levels
- Self-directed with the ability to manage responsibilities across multiple sites
- Proficiency with standard business software (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Ability to travel locally between facilities
