Overview:
A well-established heavy civil contractor is seeking an experienced Project Manager to oversee the successful delivery of construction projects from preconstruction through closeout. This role works closely with field leadership, estimating, and executive management to ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, and within budget.
The ideal candidate has strong leadership skills, understands heavy civil construction operations, and thrives in a fast-paced environment managing multiple project priorities.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients throughout the project lifecycle
- Coordinate closely with Project Superintendents and field teams to ensure efficient and safe execution of work
- Manage project budgets, schedules, and key performance milestones
- Lead project buyout, subcontractor procurement, and value engineering efforts
- Coordinate with estimating and accounting teams to properly set up projects and track financial performance
- Manage subcontract agreements and purchase orders with vendors and suppliers
- Facilitate shop drawing review and coordination with design partners
- Represent the company during owner, architect, and contractor meetings
- Monitor project costs and identify potential budget or schedule risks
- Track scope changes, delays, and schedule impacts while developing mitigation plans
- Lead internal project meetings and coordinate weekly planning with field leadership
- Oversee project closeout including punch list completion and final documentation
- Work with accounting to manage invoicing, receivables, and payables
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred (or equivalent field experience)
- 5–10+ years of experience in heavy civil construction, infrastructure, or related project management roles
- Experience managing project budgets, schedules, subcontractors, and field operations
- Familiarity with scheduling methods such as Critical Path Method (CPM)
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction management software
- Strong communication, organization, and leadership skills
- Commitment to jobsite safety and quality standards
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record
