Overview:
A non-ferrous metals processing and recycling organization is seeking an experienced Plant Operations Manager to lead the daily activities of a high-volume industrial facility. This role is responsible for production, inventory control, safety, maintenance, quality, and employee development while driving operational performance and continuous improvement.
The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in specialty alloys, high-temperature alloys, and metal processing operations, along with proven leadership experience in a manufacturing, recycling, or heavy industrial environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee all plant operations, including receiving, processing, inventory management, shipping, maintenance, and workforce performance.
- Lead metal processing activities including shredding, baling, torching, sorting, and material preparation.
- Establish, monitor, and improve operational KPIs related to productivity, recovery, inventory accuracy, safety, quality, and equipment utilization.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on efficiency, cost control, throughput, and profitability.
- Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with OSHA, environmental, and company standards.
- Manage inventory accuracy, material traceability, and production reporting through ERP systems.
- Develop supervisors and employees through coaching, accountability, training, and succession planning.
- Collaborate with executive leadership to support strategic objectives and long-term growth initiatives.
- Support quality management programs and continuous improvement efforts consistent with ISO standards.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of leadership experience within metals recycling, specialty alloy processing, steel, manufacturing, foundry, or other heavy industrial operations.
- Strong knowledge of high-temperature alloys, specialty alloys, stainless, nickel-bearing materials, and metal processing operations.
- Hands-on experience with shredding, baling, torching, material handling, and industrial processing equipment.
- Experience managing KPI-driven operations with a focus on safety, production, quality, and inventory performance.
- Proficiency with ERP systems; NetSuite experience is highly preferred.
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 quality management systems and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations Management, Business, or a related field preferred, but equivalent industry experience will be considered.
