Overview:
Lead the maintenance and management of a modern fleet of more than 325 pieces of heavy construction equipment for a leading heavy highway contractor in Virginia. This leadership role is responsible for overseeing shop operations, mechanics, fleet maintenance, equipment replacement planning, vendor relationships, and facility maintenance while ensuring equipment reliability, safety, and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily shop operations, mechanics, and maintenance scheduling.
- Coordinate field service repairs and support construction operations.
- Develop preventive maintenance programs and equipment replacement plans.
- Manage parts inventory, vendor relationships, and outsourced repairs.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA and other applicable regulations.
- Oversee equipment licensing, permitting, fueling systems, and maintenance records.
- Lead employee training, scheduling, and performance management.
Qualifications:
- 5–10 years of fleet or heavy equipment maintenance experience.
- 3–5 years supervising mechanics or shop personnel.
- Experience maintaining heavy construction equipment.
- Experience with fleet management software.
- Strong mechanical, leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel and Word).
- CDL preferred but not required.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Salary: $130,000–$150,000 + bonus
