Overview:
The Logistics Coordinator is responsible for planning, coordinating, and monitoring the timely movement of inbound raw materials and outbound finished steel products. This role works closely with production, sales, warehouse, and transportation providers to ensure on-time deliveries, efficient inventory flow, and exceptional customer service while maintaining cost-effective freight operations.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate inbound and outbound shipments with customers, carriers, and internal departments.
- Schedule deliveries and pickups to meet customer requirements and production timelines.
- Manage freight carriers, negotiate transportation rates, and optimize shipping costs.
- Prepare shipping documentation, bills of lading, and related transportation records.
- Track shipments, resolve transportation issues, and communicate delivery updates to customers and sales teams.
- Coordinate material flow between processing, warehouse, and shipping operations.
- Monitor inventory movement and ensure shipping accuracy.
- Ensure compliance with customer specifications, safety standards, and transportation regulations.
- Maintain freight records, shipping metrics, and logistics reports.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance delivery performance and operational efficiency.
Qualifications:
- Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or related field preferred.
- 2+ years of logistics, transportation, or supply chain experience, preferably in a steel service center, metals, or manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of flatbed trucking, steel shipping practices, and warehouse operations.
- Proficiency with ERP systems and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
