Overview:
A well-established metals recycling company is seeking an experienced Industrial Account Buyer to manage and grow a portfolio of industrial scrap accounts. This individual will be responsible for purchasing ferrous and non-ferrous materials, maintaining key supplier relationships, developing new sources of material, and supporting profitable volume growth across multiple recycling operations.

Key Responsibilities:
- Purchase ferrous and non-ferrous scrap from industrial generators, dealers, and other suppliers.
- Manage and strengthen existing supplier relationships to maintain consistent material flow.
- Prospect and develop new industrial and dealer accounts throughout the assigned territory.
- Monitor scrap markets, commodity pricing, and regional trends to make informed purchasing decisions.
- Negotiate pricing and commercial terms while maintaining targeted margins.
- Identify opportunities to increase account volume and overall profitability.
- Resolve material quality, grading, pricing, and service issues in partnership with operations and suppliers.
- Monitor account performance, purchasing activity, margins, and market conditions.
- Work closely with yard operations to coordinate material flow, inventory, and customer requirements.
- Develop a working knowledge of yard operations and provide operational or scale support when needed.
- Travel throughout the territory to visit suppliers, develop relationships, and pursue new business.
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience in scrap metal recycling, industrial purchasing, metals sales, or a related commercial role.
- Knowledge of ferrous and/or non-ferrous scrap metals strongly preferred.
- Proven ability to develop and maintain industrial supplier relationships.
- Strong negotiation, communication, and business development skills.
- Commercially minded with an understanding of pricing, margins, and profitability.
- Self-motivated and comfortable independently managing a territory and account portfolio.
- Operational knowledge of scrap yards, processing equipment, or scale purchasing is a plus.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent industry experience.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel throughout the assigned territory; occasional overnight travel may be required.
