Overview:
A commercial paving contractor is seeking an experienced Estimator to prepare bids and budgets for asphalt and concrete projects. This role works closely with project managers, customers, suppliers, and subcontractors to develop accurate, competitive proposals.
Responsibilities include:
- Review plans and specifications, complete quantity takeoffs, and develop detailed cost estimates.
- Calculate labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
- Obtain and evaluate supplier and subcontractor pricing, negotiating as needed.
- Prepare bid proposals and participate in site visits, pre-bid meetings, and bid reviews.
- Identify scope gaps and cost risks, maintain pricing databases, and update budgets as project requirements change.
Requires 5+ years of construction estimating experience with specific expertise in asphalt and concrete. Candidates should be able to interpret blueprints and specifications, understand applicable codes and industry standards, and be familiar with Bluebeam, On-Screen Takeoff, PlanSwift, or similar software. Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and negotiation skills are essential.
