Overview:
A leading heavy highway contractor is in search of a skilled and experienced Construction Manager to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all construction operations, with a primary focus on pre-paving activities. Reporting directly to the Area Vice President, this role will involve leading a team of 4 Superintendents and overseeing 15 Foremen.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee all construction operations related to pre-paving activities, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget and to the highest quality standards.
- Provide leadership and guidance to the construction team, including Superintendents and Foremen, to ensure efficient and effective project execution.
- Develop and implement project plans, schedules and budgets and monitor progress to ensure goals are met.
- Coordinate with other departments, subcontractors, suppliers and clients to ensure smooth project execution.
- Identify and address any issues or challenges that arise during construction, implementing solutions to minimize delays and disruptions.
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company policies, promoting a culture of safety among all team members.
- Monitor equipment utilization and maintenance to optimize efficiency and minimize downtime.
- Collaborate with the Area VP and other stakeholders to identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency gains.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in heavy highway construction, with a strong focus on pre-paving activities.
- Demonstrated leadership skills, with the ability to effectively lead and motivate a team.
- Extensive experience in all phases of dirt/earthwork, including grading, excavation, and site preparation.
- Proven track record of successful project management, with the ability to oversee multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
- Proficiency in project management software and tools.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in the construction industry.
- Ability to travel to project sites and work flexible hours as needed.
