Overview:
Steel Estimator is responsible for preparing budgets, estimates, and proposals for steel erection scopes of work on construction projects. The Steel Estimator is integral to the entire estimating process, from securing bid documents to proposal submission, ensuring accuracy, attention to detail, and adherence to project specifications.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct accurate quantity take-offs and utilize historical data for productivity and pricing rates
- Prepare estimates using current software and company standards
- Organize and format estimates for clarity
- Collaborate with company personnel, vendors, and clients
- Review estimates with company management
- Maintain vendor interface for material and equipment pricing
- Participate in project handover to operations staff
- Pursue ongoing training and education
- Manage time effectively and prioritize tasks
- Represent the company professionally and ensure compliance with safety regulations
Requirements:
- 5+ years of steel erection industry experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management a plus
- Proficient with MS Office & Onscreen Takeoff software (Planswift, etc.)
- Proficient with 3D BIM software (Tekla, Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks, SDS/2, etc.)
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Capability to conduct job site visits when necessary
