Overview:
The Structural Steel Project Superintendent is responsible for coordinating and managing all on-site activities related to steel construction projects. Working closely with project teams, including Project Managers, Project Engineers, Foremen, Field Personnel and other office departments, the Superintendent ensures successful project delivery to owners, meeting project objectives within the designated time frame and budget while maintaining quality standards.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise the entire construction effort to ensure compliance with design, budget, and schedule, including liaising with client representatives, AE representatives and other contractors
- Plan, coordinate, and oversee onsite functions such as scheduling, engineering and material control and may provide direction to onsite administrative staff in accounting, purchasing, etc.
- Supervise craft employees and/or other contractors as required by the contract
- Authorize and/or approve all project personnel transactions, purchase requisitions, field design change requests, etc.
- Provide technical assistance, including interpretation of drawings and recommending construction methods and equipment
- Assist project management in developing and implementing project procedures, working documents and standards
- Ensure compliance of all onsite personnel with project procedures, safety program requirements and work rules
- Document violations, notify project management and recommend/implement corrective actions as necessary
- Assume responsibility for the productivity of crafts, efficient use of materials and equipment and contractual performance of the project
Requirements:
- 10+ Years supervising experience in steel construction
- Excellent communication, organizational and supervisory skills
- Basic computer skills with experience in MS Office and MS Project a plus
