Overview:
The Regional General Manager will oversee and manage the operations, financial performance, and strategic direction of the metals recycling facilities within the assigned region. This role is crucial in driving operational excellence, ensuring compliance with industry regulations, and fostering a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee the day-to-day of multiple recycling facilities within the region including shredder, non-ferrous recovery and torching/shearing/baling operations.
- Ensure efficient and cost-effective processing, storage, and transportation of recycled metals.
- Implement and monitor operational KPIs to achieve productivity and performance targets.
- Develop and manage the regional budget, including cost controls and financial planning.
- Formulate and execute regional business strategies aligned with corporate objectives.
- Identify and pursue growth opportunities, including new markets and partnerships.
- Lead initiatives to enhance operational efficiency, sustainability, and technological advancement.
- Manage, mentor, and develop a high-performing regional team, including facility managers and support staff.
- Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Conduct performance reviews and implement staff training programs.
- Ensure all facilities comply with local, state, and federal environmental and safety regulations.
- Promote and enforce a strong safety culture, including regular safety audits and training sessions.
Requirements:
- 10 years of experience in operations management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within the recycling or metals industry.
- Strong financial acumen and experience with budget management.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a diverse team across multiple locations.
- In-depth knowledge of environmental regulations and safety standards in the recycling industry.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Proven track record of driving operational excellence and achieving business goals.
- Ability to travel within the region as required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field. MBA or advanced degree preferred.
