Overview:
Steel company is seeking 2 Metallurgists | Known for their custom specialty alloys in ingot, pig, billet, plate, and bar forms.
Responsibilities:
- Participate in safety programs
- Provide technical support for customers, both internal and external
- Review inquiries to verify capabilities and specification compliance
- Evaluate processes for opportunities to reduce scrap, improve efficiencies, and improve quality
- Write process procedures
- Become familiar with the Quality System
- Evaluate process conformance to procedures
- Disposition non-conforming product
- Write corrective actions to address quality system deficiencies
- Required Knowledge – Must have working knowledge and/or experience with:
- Electric Arc Furnace
- AOD vessels
- ESR remelting
- VAR remelting
- Forging
- Rolling mills
- Bar processing (straightening, peeling, etc.)
- Non-destructive testing
- Stainless steels, nickel alloys, copper-nickel alloys, high temperature alloys
Requirements:
- BS Metallurgical Engineering – Comparable degrees will be considered
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams
- Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
