Overview:
A fast-growing, privately held metals recycling and processing company located in the Southeast seeks an experienced CFO to lead and modernize the finance and accounting functions of their operations. This hands-on, strategic leadership role will support continued growth while mentoring and developing a small but capable internal team. The ideal candidate brings both operational finance and strategic leadership experience from a middle-market manufacturing or recycling environment.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as a key member of the executive leadership team, partnering closely with the Owner and Controller to align financial strategy with business objectives.
- Oversee and elevate all aspects of accounting, finance, cash management, and reporting functions, with a focus on strengthening internal controls, compliance, and forecasting.
- Lead budgeting, financial planning & analysis (FP&A), and performance measurement across the company.
- Provide mentorship and leadership development for the internal accounting team, especially the Controller, with an emphasis on growth, knowledge transfer, and scalability.
- Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes in NetSuite.
- Optimize reporting dashboards, KPIs, and visibility into profitability by product line, customer, or facility.
- Support vendor and customer finance processes, including contract oversight, margin analysis, and payment structure review.
- Manage banking relationships, credit lines, and working capital optimization strategies.
- Participate in strategic initiatives including M&A evaluation, cost reduction, and capital investment planning.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (MBA or CPA preferred).
- 10+ years of progressive financial leadership, including experience as a CFO, VP of Finance, or Corporate Controller.
- Prior experience in metals manufacturing or metals recycling required.
- Demonstrated success in leading and developing lean accounting/finance teams in high-growth or middle-market environments.
- Strong working knowledge of NetSuite or similar ERP platforms.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial culture with both strategic and hands-on responsibilities.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; collaborative and mentor-oriented leadership style.
