Overview:
Aggregate Company is seeking an Assistant Superintendent to manage all aspects of the quarry operations.
Responsibilities:
- Interview potential new hires.
- Oversee the training of personnel in proper and safe operation of equipment.
- Administer and enforce all Company policies and procedures.
- Formally evaluate, counsel, and discipline personnel.
- Solve and document personnel problems.
- Lead daily 60/360 discussions, near miss reviews and safety meetings.
- Oversee the health, wellness, and safety goals for the operation, and maintain current First Aid/CPR certification.
- Accompany MSHA inspectors during inspections.
- Plan and execute pit development (including stripping activities and oversize reduction).
- Oversee and participate in the drilling and blasting program.
- Address blasting complaints.
- Plan and execute pump and settling pond maintenance.
- Monitor primary and secondary production methods for efficient operations.
- Identify and address production trends through consistent monitoring of production rates.
- Oversee and participate in the quality control/quality monitoring program.
- Review daily, weekly, and monthly operator checklists and inspection sheets.
- Plan and execute equipment maintenance activities in the pit, primary and secondary crushing areas.
- Coordinate mobile equipment maintenance and repairs.
- Oversee the work of outside contractors working at the quarry.
- Write maintenance reports on any major repairs to production equipment.
- Submit monthly production budgets.
- Monitor product inventory levels and suggest/review adjustments with the Superintendent.
- Assist in developing unit cost budgets for each new fiscal year.
Requirements:
- 7 years of experience with aggregate production processes and repair/maintenance procedures is required.
- Significant prior supervisory experience is required.
- High School Diploma or GED is required, two- or four-year degree is preferred.
- Certified QC Technician preferred.
- Drilling and Blasting experience are preferred.
- Good computer skills are required, including fluent use of Microsoft Word and Excel.
