Overview:
Aggregate Producer is seeking an EHS Director to oversee all aspects of environmental, health and safety programs, ensuring compliance with regulations set forth by Federal, State and Local Government Agencies.
Responsibilities:
- Stay on top of changes in EHS regulations and update policies and procedures accordingly.
- Provide guidance to senior leadership on EHS-related matters.
- Provide leadership and direction to EHS teams across multiple regions.
- Conduct regular site visits and inspections.
- Determine corrective or preventative measures.
- Evaluate the EHS status of potential acquisitions.
- Implement risk reduction measures and monitor their effectiveness over time.
- Develop and deliver EHS training programs for employees, contractors and site managers.
- Oversee incident investigations and root cause analyses for releases, accidents, injuries, and near-miss events.
- Implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence and ensure lessons learned are shared.
- Provide recommendations and assistance to site management with respect to site hazards, employee training, new/safe equipment operation and safe material or substance utilization.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive emergency response plans for each site.
- Ensure employees are adequately trained and prepared for emergencies.
- Conduct regular drills and simulations to test the effectiveness of emergency response procedures.
- Ensure the preparation and submittal of all required environmental and other regulatory reports, registrations and permits.
- Maintain detailed records of EHS activities, incidents, inspections and training sessions.
- Act as a liaison with regulatory agencies and represent the organization during inspections and audits.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety. Master’s degree is a plus.
- Certifications preferred: Certified Safety Professional (CPS); Associates Safety Professional (ASP); Graduate Safety Professional (GSP); Certified Mine Safety Professional (CMSP)
- 10+ years of progressive experience in EHS management, with specific experience in mining operations and MSHA regulations.
- Strong knowledge of MSHA/OSHA/EPA/DEQ regulations, industry standards, and best practices.
- Strong knowledge of Federal/State environmental regulations application to industrial operations.
- Proficiency in EHS software, data analysis, and reporting tools.
