Overview:
Heavy Construction Materials Company is seeking a Transportation Manager – Truck & Rail to manage material hauling operations for aggregates, cements and other materials.
Responsibilities:
- Negotiate rates and ensure on-time delivery service with capacity leverage.
- Manage safe operations and insurance.
- Ensure DOT compliance and improve safety records.
- Create & update dashboards that provide at a glance updates around key performance indicators.
- Provide analysis on logistics performance including driver, source and destination performance.
- Collaborate with logistics and product-line professionals within the company to review data and metrics.
- Participate in the internal fleet management, owner operator enrollment & onboarding activities.
- Continuously update rates to align with needs of internal business delivery and cost.
- Continuously update/align terminal expectations according to rail on time in full delivery.
- Travel to ports, terminals, distribution yards, internal and external customers to work on business development.
- Participate in demand planning and analysis using multiple tools and information sources.
- Implementation of updated equipment and applications to align with digitalization of business.
- Collaborate on the generation of Capital Expenditure Requests (CERs) to justify the implementation of projects to lower overall logistic costs.
- Present information to managers and executives through PPT slides and in person.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of transportation management experience
- Associate degree required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Building material experience a plus
- Experience in managing multiple transportation formats
- Progressive experience specific to managing transportation budget and balancing freight costs
- Negotiation & financial index alignment a plus
- Experience in an analytical environment working with performance metrics preferred.
- Safety Culture.
- Must be able to speak, read and write English. Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
