Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Asphalt Plant Operator / Foreman to oversee the operations of a portable Astec asphalt plant in Alaska. The ideal candidate will manage plant operations, ensure efficient production, and supervise a small team to meet quality and safety standards on projects. This role requires hands-on operation of the plant, troubleshooting, maintenance, and ensuring compliance with environmental and safety regulations.
Responsibilities:
- Operate and maintain the portable Astec asphalt plant, ensuring optimal performance and minimal downtime.
- Supervise and train plant crew in daily operations, safety protocols, and equipment maintenance.
- Oversee the production of asphalt, ensuring quality control and adherence to project specifications.
- Troubleshoot plant issues and perform routine maintenance to keep the plant running smoothly.
- Monitor and document plant performance, material usage, and production output.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards, environmental regulations, and company policies.
- Coordinate logistics and materials with the project team for efficient plant operations.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience operating and supervising asphalt plant operations (experience with Astec plants preferred).
- Strong mechanical and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to work in remote conditions and in harsh weather environments.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- OSHA certification or similar safety training a plus.
- Ability to lead a small team and ensure high productivity in a safety-conscious environment.
