We are seeking an experienced Environmental Engineering professional to lead environmental compliance and sustainability initiatives across operations in the Southern U.S. This role will serve as a strategic partner to both corporate leadership and site-level operations, ensuring consistent execution of environmental programs while driving continuous improvement across multiple facilities.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in multi-media environmental compliance, including air, water, waste, and regulatory reporting, along with proven experience implementing corporate environmental initiatives at the site level. This individual must be capable of balancing strategic oversight with operational execution in a dynamic, multi-site environment.
This position requires approximately 30–50% travel throughout the Southern region to support facilities, conduct audits, drive compliance initiatives, and engage directly with operational leadership teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and oversee environmental compliance programs across multiple facilities within the Southern region.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations, including air permitting, wastewater/stormwater management, hazardous waste, and other multi-media environmental requirements.
- Translate corporate environmental strategies and initiatives into actionable site-level programs and sustainable operating practices.
- Drive standardization and continuous improvement across facilities through audits, training, metrics, and performance management.
- Partner closely with operations, EHS, engineering, and corporate leadership to proactively identify and mitigate environmental risks.
- Provide leadership and development to a team of 3 direct reports (Regional Environmental Managers), fostering accountability, collaboration, and professional growth.
- Support regulatory inspections, agency interactions, and environmental incident investigations as needed.
- Monitor emerging environmental regulations and assess operational impacts across the region.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Chemical Engineering, or related technical discipline.
- Significant experience in environmental compliance within a manufacturing, industrial, chemical, energy, or similarly regulated environment.
- Deep expertise in multi-media environmental programs, including air, water, waste, and compliance management systems.
- Proven success implementing and deploying corporate environmental initiatives across multiple operating sites.
- Prior leadership experience managing regional teams and influencing cross-functional stakeholders.
- Strong communication, project management, and organizational skills.
- Ability and willingness to travel 30–50% throughout the Southern U.S.
