Overview:
As a Senior Estimator you will coordinate and lead activities of an estimating team, review estimates, maintain records, and assist other team members.
Responsibilities:
- Lead constructability reviews, quantify take-offs, and pricing for multiple disciplines on a pursuit.
- Analyze project plans, specifications, and other documentation to prepare comprehensive cost estimates.
- Possess a fundamental knowledge of earthwork grading, bridge construction, drainage pipe installation, and roadway paving (concrete/asphalt).
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to understand project requirements and constraints.
- Prepare detailed quantity take-offs and cost estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor services.
- Take responsibility for bid closeout.
- Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing.
- Coordinate and lead the activities of a team of estimators, review estimates, and maintain records.
- Establish and maintain budget control during the estimating / preconstruction phases of the project.
- Analyze and review engineering contracts, plans, and specifications to develop detailed, comprehensive construction estimates.
- Oversee the estimating function and associated workflow in a project environment, coordinating input from internal and external groups required for estimate and proposals.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in civil estimating or a related role.
- Strong knowledge of Heavy Civil, Earthwork, Drainage, Pipe Installation, Asphalt Paving, and Bridge Building.
- Broad knowledge and ability to understand project scheduling, cost control, specifications, engineering drawings, means and methods, materials, and cost estimation techniques.
- Proficiency in estimating software and related tools such as HCSS-Heavy Bid, Bluebeam, and Primavera P6.
- Excellent analytical and mathematical skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
