Overview:
Metals Recycling Operation in the Northeast seeks an experienced Outside Buyer to procure Ferrous and Non-Ferrous Scrap Materials from local industrial, commercial and dealer accounts.
Responsibilities:
- Source scrap metal materials and negotiate specifications and payment terms.
- Meet or exceed volume and margin goals.
- Collaborate with Commercial Managers to fulfill supplier needs, including quality inspections and payments.
- Coordinate with operational personnel on grading and quality of scrap.
- Maintain knowledge of ferrous and non-ferrous scale operations.
- Handle inbound commercial calls and respond to quote requests promptly.
- Conduct cold calls to potential suppliers and maintain a database of interactions.
- Establish new account relationships, including site visits, price quoting, and coordination with transportation for pickups.
- Lead marketing, outreach, and customer retention initiatives.
- Address customer complaints and monitor vehicle records for compliance.
- Collaborate with Commercial Managers to ensure suppliers receive excellent service.
- Stay updated on industry trends and regional market impacts.
Requirements:
- College degree in business or marketing preferred, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in scrap metal buying or relevant industrial sales.
- Strong people skills, proficiency in MS Office, and ability to work in a team environment.
- Excellent time-management, communication, cold-calling, and negotiation skills.
- Valid driver’s license and positive credit history.
