Overview:
Seeking an experienced Facility Manager to lead the daily operations of a full-service scrap metal recycling facility in the Appalachian Region. This role is ideal for a hands-on leader who understands both the production floor and the business side of recycling operations.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee day-to-day facility operations, including shipping logistics, equipment maintenance, inventory, and workforce management
- Supervise a team of 10+ employees, ensuring productivity, safety, and compliance with environmental and DOT regulations
- Manage processing of ferrous and non-ferrous metals using heavy equipment such as balers, shears, loggers, and material handlers
- Ensure preventative maintenance programs and repairs for trucks and machinery are executed efficiently
- Maintain accurate records and reporting through recycling/buying software platforms.
- Balance time between production oversight (approximately 2/3) and administrative/office responsibilities (1/3)
- Build strong working relationships with both employees and peer facility managers across the organization
Requirements:
- Minimum 3 years managing a team of 10+ in a scrap metal recycling environment
- 5+ years of hands-on experience with ferrous and non-ferrous processing equipment
- 2+ years of experience purchasing scrap metals using industry-standard buying software
- Experience with environmental and DOT compliance
- Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills
