Overview:
Leading Metals Recycling Company is seeking a highly skilled and experienced General Manager to oversee the shredder yard operations. The General Manager will be responsible for managing all aspects of the shredder yard, including production, safety, personnel management, and ensuring compliance with environmental regulations.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and supervise all aspects of the shredder yard operations, including shredding, sorting, processing, and shipping.
- Develop and implement strategies to optimize production efficiency, throughput, and quality.
- Monitor equipment performance, maintenance, and repairs to ensure uninterrupted operations.
- Prioritize and enforce strict adherence to safety protocols and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant environmental regulations, permits, and industry standards.
- Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to identify and address potential hazards.
- Recruit, train, and supervise a diverse team of yard personnel, including operators, maintenance staff, and administrative personnel.
- Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Provide coaching, feedback, and performance evaluations to ensure the development and success of employees.
- Develop and manage the shredder yard budget, including cost control measures and revenue generation strategies.
- Analyze financial performance metrics and KPIs to identify areas for improvement and cost-saving opportunities.
- Collaborate with senior management to develop long-term strategic plans and goals for the shredder yard.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, suppliers, and stakeholders.
- Address customer inquiries, concerns, and complaints in a timely and professional manner.
- Work closely with sales and marketing teams to identify market trends and opportunities for business growth.
Requirements:
- Proven experience (5+ years) in a managerial role within the metals recycling industry
- Strong technical knowledge of shredder operations, equipment, and processes.
- Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire a diverse team.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software applications.
- Familiarity with environmental regulations and safety standards in the recycling industry.
