Overview:
A privately held Metal Recycling Company in the Upper Midwest is seeking an experienced and dynamic General Manager to lead operations and oversee the staff across our multiple facilities. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in the metal recycling industry, exceptional leadership skills, and a proven track record of successfully managing operations in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement strategic plans to drive business growth, improve operational efficiency, and achieve financial targets.
- Direct and oversee all aspects of day-to-day operations across multiple facilities, including production, logistics, quality control, and safety.
- Provide leadership and guidance to facility supervisors and staff, fostering a positive work environment and promoting a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Monitor financial performance, analyze key metrics, and develop budgets and forecasts to optimize profitability and resource utilization.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant environmental, health, and safety regulations, as well as company policies and procedures.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, suppliers, and other stakeholders to drive customer satisfaction and loyalty.
- Drive initiatives for process optimization and innovation to enhance productivity, quality, and sustainability.
- Effectively communicate with senior management, department heads, and staff to align goals, share information, and foster transparency and collaboration.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 7-10 years of progressive experience in the recycling industry, with at least 3-5 years management experience.
- Strong leadership abilities with proven experience in team building, coaching, and talent development.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with a strategic mindset and attention to detail.
- Solid understanding of financial principles, budgeting, and cost management.
- Knowledge of environmental regulations, safety standards, and industry best practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively at all levels of the organization.
- Proven track record of driving operational excellence, continuous improvement, and business growth.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities, work under pressure, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
