Overview:
A well-established metals recycling company is seeking an experienced General Manager to lead a scrap processing operation in the Upper Midwest. This individual will have full responsibility for day-to-day operations, team leadership, production, safety, customer service, and overall facility performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage approximately 25 employees across yard, processing, and support functions.
- Oversee daily industrial and peddler scrap processing operations.
- Manage production, material flow, inventory, equipment utilization, and outbound shipments.
- Drive operational efficiency, productivity, cost control, and profitability.
- Maintain a strong focus on safety, environmental compliance, and housekeeping.
- Recruit, develop, and hold employees accountable while building a strong operational culture.
- Work closely with commercial leadership to ensure material purchasing, processing, inventory, and sales activities remain aligned.
- Develop and maintain relationships with industrial accounts, customers, vendors, and other business partners.
- Establish processes, procedures, and performance expectations that support continued growth.
Ideal Background:
- Significant leadership experience within the scrap metal recycling industry.
- Strong understanding of ferrous and non-ferrous scrap processing, including industrial and peddler material.
- Previous experience as a General Manager, Operations Manager, Yard Manager, or similar operational leader.
- Proven ability to lead and develop a team in a hands-on scrap processing environment.
- Strong operational and commercial awareness with an understanding of margins, inventory, production costs, and profitability.
- Entrepreneurial, hands-on leadership style with the ability to build structure and accountability within an operation.
