Overview:
A premier scrap metal processing company specializing in aerospace-grade superalloys and titanium in the Southeast is seeking a hands-on Lab Manager with a passion for metals chemistry, advanced analysis techniques, and team leadership. The Lab Manager will lead a high-performance lab ensuring accuracy, consistency, and compliance across all testing and reporting functions.
Responsibilities:
- Lead daily lab operations — from sample prep to final reporting
- Oversee and maintain XRF, ICP-OES, and other analytical instruments
- Ensure materials meet precise customer chemistry & density specs
- Develop and enforce robust quality control protocols
- Supervise, train, and support lab techs and junior chemists
- Partner with operations and commercial teams to validate inventory quality
- Identify material deviations and drive corrective actions
- Ensure EHS compliance and regulatory recordkeeping
Qualifications:
- Degree in Metallurgy, Chemistry, Materials Science, or related field
- 5+ years lab management in aerospace metals or high-purity alloys
- Expert in superalloy & titanium chemistry analysis
- Skilled with XRF, ICP-OES, ICP-MS, gas analysis equipment
- Strong leadership and mentoring skills
- Precision-focused, process-minded, and safety-first
