Overview:
A leading metals recycling operation is seeking an experienced Maintenance Manager to oversee equipment repair, preventive maintenance, and team leadership across multiple facilities. This role manages a traveling crew and is responsible for ensuring safe, efficient, and reliable performance of heavy machinery and hydraulic systems.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and support a maintenance team serving multiple yard locations.
- Oversee inspections, diagnostics, and repairs of hydraulic systems, material handlers, mobile equipment, balers, shears, shredders, and related machinery.
- Develop and manage preventive maintenance programs to minimize downtime.
- Coordinate repair priorities and emergency response activities to keep operations running efficiently.
- Maintain accurate service records, work orders, and equipment logs.
- Enforce safety standards, compliance policies, and environmental guidelines.
- Manage parts inventory, vendors, and procurement needs.
- Mentor and train technicians, promoting a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with leadership to align maintenance objectives with operational goals.
- Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and cost control for maintenance operations.
Requirements:
- 5+ years metals recycling industry heavy equipment maintenance experience.
- Knowledgeable in hydraulics, mechanical systems, and electrical troubleshooting.
- Proven leadership experience managing maintenance teams, including mobile crews.
- Familiarity with OSHA and other applicable safety standards.
- Ability to read and interpret manuals, schematics, and technical diagrams.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- CMMS experience preferred.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel regularly.
- Certifications in hydraulics, welding, or heavy equipment repair preferred.
