Overview:
Our client is a well-established, growth-oriented metals recycling company specializing in the procurement, processing, and marketing of non-ferrous and ferrous metals. The Non-Ferrous Buyer will be responsible for developing new industrial supply accounts and managing existing supplier relationships for non-ferrous scrap metals including aluminum, copper, brass, stainless, and specialty metals. This individual will play a critical role in growing supply volumes, negotiating pricing, and ensuring quality and delivery standards are met.
Responsibilities:
- Proactively identify, target, and develop new industrial accounts and scrap-generating facilities.
- Manage and grow a portfolio of existing suppliers, ensuring consistent supply and fostering long-term partnerships.
- Source a variety of non-ferrous scrap materials such as aluminum, copper, brass, stainless steel, and insulated wire.
- Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts with suppliers to ensure competitive margins and reliable volume.
- Coordinate with logistics and operations teams to ensure timely pickup and delivery of material.
- Monitor market trends, pricing, and competitor activity to inform purchasing strategies.
- Conduct site visits, perform material inspections, and evaluate supplier capabilities.
- Maintain accurate records of purchases, forecasts, and supplier performance.
- Ensure all procurement activities comply with environmental and safety regulations.
Requirements:
- 3+ years of experience in non-ferrous metal purchasing or industrial account management within the recycling or metals industry.
- Proven track record of developing and maintaining industrial supply accounts.
- Strong knowledge of non-ferrous metal grades, pricing, and quality standards.
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
- Ability to travel regionally to visit suppliers and industrial sites.
- Self-motivated, results-driven, and capable of working independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in CRM or scrap industry software preferred.
