Overview:
A well-established metals recycling leader seeks an experienced Non-Ferrous Manager to lead the daily operations of a high-volume non-ferrous metals department. Reporting to senior operations leadership, this role will oversee purchasing, processing, and shipping of non-ferrous scrap while ensuring safety, quality, and efficiency standards are consistently met.
Responsibilities:
- Direct all aspects of non-ferrous department operations, including receiving, grading, processing, inventory control, and shipping.
- Monitor production targets and adjust processes to improve throughput and meet delivery commitments.
- Maintain accurate perpetual inventory and conduct regular physical audits.
- Lead quality, environmental, and safety compliance efforts across the department.
- Partner with logistics and commercial teams to ensure timely, accurate customer shipments.
- Oversee supplier relationships, including pricing, service, and quality of inbound materials.
- Provide hands-on leadership for team development, coaching, and performance management.
- Champion cost-effective operational strategies while fostering a culture of safety and customer service.
- Support the implementation of Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) programs.
- Perform additional tasks as needed to keep operations running smoothly.
Requirements:
- 3–5+ years of leadership experience in non-ferrous metals / recycling operations.
- Strong knowledge of non-ferrous metals and related processes.
- Proven ability to negotiate pricing and service agreements with suppliers and carriers.
- Solid organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Effective communication skills—verbal, written, and digital.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office or similar software.
- Willingness to work varied shifts and travel up to 25%.
- Demonstrated commitment to safety, problem-solving, and continuous improvement.
