Overview:
A well-established, multi-generation, privately held metals recycling company is seeking a Non-Ferrous Manager to lead operations at one of its core processing facilities. This organization has a long-standing reputation in the region and services a diverse mix of industrial, commercial, and retail suppliers.
The Non-Ferrous Manager will oversee all aspects of non-ferrous purchasing, processing, and outbound sales. This individual will be responsible for driving volume growth, improving material quality, and leading a small team in a fast-paced yard environment.
Responsibilities:
- Manage daily non-ferrous operations including buying, grading, processing, and shipping
- Supervise and develop a small team of scale operators, buyers, and yard personnel
- Build and maintain relationships with industrial accounts, peddlers, and suppliers
- Price and purchase non-ferrous materials in alignment with market conditions
- Ensure accurate grading and maximize recovery/value across all material streams
- Coordinate outbound shipments and maintain strong relationships with brokers, consumers, and downstream processors
- Monitor inventory levels, turnover, and margin performance
- Partner with senior leadership on growth initiatives and new supplier development
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements
Requirements:
- 3+ years metals recycling industry non-ferrous operations experience
- Strong knowledge of copper, aluminum, brass, stainless, and insulated wire grades
- Proven ability to price material and manage supplier relationships
- Experience in a yard environment with hands-on operational involvement
- Leadership experience managing small teams preferred
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
