Overview:
A growing metals recycling and processing company is seeking an experienced Non-Ferrous Shredder Supervisor to oversee daily production at a high-volume non-ferrous processing facility. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on leader with experience in aluminum and non-ferrous scrap processing who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
The successful candidate will be responsible for leading daily shredder operations, supervising production personnel, coordinating maintenance activities, and driving improvements in safety, throughput, material quality, and equipment performance.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise the daily operation of a non-ferrous shredding and processing system, ensuring production goals are met safely and efficiently.
- Lead, coach, and develop production employees while fostering accountability and continuous improvement.
- Monitor material flow, shredder performance, and downstream processing to maximize recovery and product quality.
- Coordinate with maintenance to schedule preventive maintenance, prioritize repairs, and minimize equipment downtime.
- Ensure proper processing, grading, and segregation of non-ferrous materials to meet consumer specifications.
- Monitor production rates, equipment utilization, and recovery yields while identifying opportunities to improve efficiency.
- Maintain inventory of wear parts and communicate equipment needs to maintenance and purchasing.
- Partner with operations and commercial teams to support production schedules and customer requirements.
- Enforce all safety, environmental, and operational procedures throughout the facility.
Qualifications:
- Previous supervisory experience in non-ferrous metals recycling, aluminum processing, or another heavy industrial manufacturing environment.
- Experience operating or supervising shredding, grinding, or size-reduction equipment used in non-ferrous processing.
- Strong understanding of non-ferrous metals, including aluminum, copper, brass, stainless steel, and mixed alloy material streams.
- Experience working with downstream processing equipment such as magnets, eddy current separators, screening systems, and material handling equipment.
- Ability to coordinate maintenance activities and troubleshoot production issues.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Commitment to safety, quality, and operational excellence.
Preferred Experience:
- Knowledge of twitch, zorba, aluminum scrap preparation, and non-ferrous recovery processes.
- Experience improving production efficiency, equipment reliability, and recovery rates.
- Familiarity with conveyors, shredders, screening equipment, and downstream separation systems.
