Overview:
A well-established metals recycling company is seeking an experienced Production Manager to oversee operations at a high-volume non-ferrous processing facility specializing in wire chopping and material recovery. This role is responsible for leading daily plant operations, optimizing production throughput, managing personnel, and ensuring safe and efficient equipment performance.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee day-to-day plant operations for a non-ferrous processing facility, ensuring production targets, quality standards, and safety expectations are consistently met.
- Manage and supervise plant personnel, warehouse teams, and shift operations, ensuring productivity and accountability.
- Develop and implement production plans, material flow strategies, and shipment coordination to support operational goals.
- Monitor plant performance metrics and analyze efficiency, labor utilization, and equipment effectiveness.
- Prepare and deliver weekly operational performance reports to senior leadership.
- Lead equipment maintenance planning and scheduling to minimize downtime and maintain operational reliability.
- Develop operational budgets, capital improvement plans, and financial forecasts for the facility.
- Recruit, train, and mentor supervisors and plant personnel while maintaining a strong team culture.
- Coordinate with commercial and marketing teams to align production capabilities with inbound material supply and sales commitments.
- Oversee facility infrastructure, grounds maintenance, and plant security.
- Maintain compliance with company policies, safety standards, and environmental regulations.
Required Experience:
- 5+ years metals recycling industry supervisory / management experience
- Experience working in non-ferrous processing environments such as wire chopping, shredding, separation, or recovery systems strongly preferred.
- Proven ability to manage production teams, equipment maintenance, and operational efficiency initiatives.
- Strong leadership and team-building skills
- Excellent communication and reporting abilities
- Experience with plant performance metrics and operational planning
- Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced recycling or commodity processing environment
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and professional integrity
