Overview:
As a Senior Buyer specializing in scrap metal procurement, you will play a pivotal role in revenue generation through the acquisition of scrap metal from both existing and new clients. Your responsibilities will include cultivating and maintaining strong client relationships, identifying and capturing new business opportunities, and negotiating optimal prices. This role demands prior experience in the scrap metal industry, adept negotiating skills, and a track record of delivering exceptional customer service.
Responsibilities:
- Purchase scrap metal from new and existing clients, employing industry knowledge and market conditions to secure the best prices.
- Foster and sustain effective relationships with clients, ensuring their needs are met and exceeded.
- Identify and capitalize on additional business opportunities within existing client accounts.
- Promptly handle customer inquiries and provide accurate quotes.
- Proactively generate leads to expand the client base and increase revenue.
- Assist in managing inventory control to ensure efficient operations.
- Stay informed about industry trends, market activities, and competitor strategies.
- Fulfill other job duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of prior experience as a scrap metal buyer
- Proficient understanding of scrap metal valuation methodologies.
- Demonstrated prowess in negotiation techniques.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Creative problem-solving abilities with a knack for finding effective solutions.
- Ability to thrive under pressure and meet deadlines consistently.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook and Excel.
- Proven track record of delivering superior customer service.
- Capability to work autonomously as well as within a team environment.
