Overview:
Family-owned and operated Metals Recycling Company seeks a hands-on Yard Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of a small recycling facility. This role is ideal for an experienced Yard Supervisor who is ready to step into a leadership position and take on greater responsibility.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and supervise a small team of yard employees, ensuring safety, productivity, and efficiency.
- Oversee daily operations including receiving, processing, and shipping of ferrous and non-ferrous materials.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized yard in compliance with company policies and industry regulations.
- Monitor equipment usage and coordinate routine maintenance and repairs.
- Manage inventory and material flow to support customer needs.
- Train and develop team members, fostering a culture of accountability and teamwork.
- Communicate with leadership on operational goals, challenges, and performance metrics.
Requirements:
- Previous experience in metals recycling, scrap, or a related industrial/yard environment.
- Supervisory or lead experience, with proven ability to manage a team.
- Strong commitment to workplace safety and compliance.
- Mechanical aptitude and familiarity with yard equipment (loaders, forklifts, shears, balers, etc.).
- Good organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Willingness to be hands-on and lead by example.
