Overview:
The HSE Manager will be responsible for leading a positive and encouraging safety culture.
Responsibilities:
- Provide support to management and supervisors on issues dealing with training, health, and safety.
- Work directly with the Operations Manager, Plant Managers, and corporate manager safety/risk management to ensure that all activities work together to promote a safe working environment for all employees.
- Must ensure that corporate safety and health policies are administered in a consistent manner.
- Provide support to front line supervisors and management for safety related items.
- Maintain compliance in all environmental items.
- Maintain all corporate safety and environmental systems.
- Stimulate change that continuously improves the effectiveness of the company safety program.
- Develop, coordinate, and maintain the company health and safety program and safety manual.
- Ensure that all incidents/ accidents are properly reported and investigated and follows up on them.
- Monitor compliance with Workers’ Compensation Act and Regulations as well as ensuring proper and timely reporting of injuries and follow all claims to completion.
- Lead all HSE initiatives.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in safety, environmental management, or construction management or 5 years of related experience.
- Excellent communication skills – dedicated to meeting the expectations of internal and external customers.
- Must be flexible and able to balance shifting priorities to meet deadlines.
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills and the desire to seek solutions.
- Excellent leadership skills – must be able to motivate others and provide complete, direct and actionable feedback.
- Exhibit strong organizational skills and use resources effectively and efficiently.
- Possess a commitment and willingness to devote great effort and time in order to reach goals.
- Ability to make decisions in a timely manner, sometimes with incomplete data and under tight deadlines and pressure.
- Proficient with Microsoft applications, specifically Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
