Overview:
As Shop Foreman your role is crucial in ensuring the efficient operation and maintenance of all mobile equipment used in the production of ready-mix concrete.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure that all maintenance activities adhere to safety guidelines and regulations, promoting a safe working environment for the mobile equipment maintenance team and other personnel.
- Keep a clean well-organized shop.
- Cleanliness promotes safety and efficiency.
- Keep accurate records of maintenance activities, including repair logs in our Whip Around System, maintenance schedules, and equipment status reports.
- Identify training needs for maintenance staff and arrange relevant training sessions to enhance their skills and knowledge.
- Supervise a team of mechanics, assign tasks, providing technical guidance and conducting performance evaluations.
- Execute our preventative maintenance program both on the annual DOT inspections as well as on our P.M. program to prevent breakdowns, ensuring maximum equipment uptime.
- Coordinate and participate in diagnosing and repairing equipment malfunctions, ensuring prompt and effective solutions to minimize downtime.
- Maintain an organized inventory of spare parts and equipment components, ensuring availability when needed and managing procurement activities.
- Assist in developing the maintenance budget, monitoring expenses and identifying cost-saving opportunities without compromising safety or equipment performance.
- Regularly assess maintenance procedures and recommend improvements to enhance efficiency and equipment longevity.
- Work closely with the team to ensure seamless coordination and scheduling of maintenance activities without effecting concrete production schedules.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent. Technical or vocational training in mechanics or a related field is preferred.
- Proven experience in maintenance and repair of heavy equipment, preferably in the ready-mix concrete industry.
- Prior supervisory experience or demonstrated leadership skills.
- Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot and repair equipment issues effectively.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures related to equipment maintenance and repair.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in maintaining records, generating reports, and utilizing maintenance management software.
