Overview:
South Florida Fabricator seeks an experienced structural steel estimator with 5+ years experience.
Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for structural steel projects
- Calculate material quantities & costs, labor requirements & project timelines
- Develop & maintain unit cost databases for materials & labor
- Conduct site visits & assessments as needed to gather information for accurate estimates
- Prepare & submit competitive bids for structural steel projects
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to develop comprehensive bid proposals.
- Identify potential risks & opportunities in project bids & provide recommendations to management
- Follow up on submitted bids & negotiate with clients & contractors as required
- Coordinate with suppliers & subcontractors to obtain pricing & delivery schedules for materials & services
- Maintain effective communication with clients, architects, engineers & contractors throughout the estimating & bidding process
- Provide support to project managers during the project execution phase to ensure alignment with the estimated budget & scope
- Maintain detailed records of all estimates, bids & related documents
- Prepare regular reports on the status of estimates & bids, highlighting any issues or discrepancies
Requirements:
- 5+ years structural steel estimating experience
- Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications & building codes
- Excellent mathematical and analytical skills
- Familiarity with structural steel materials, fabrication processes, & installation methods
- Proficient with Bluebeam, Tekla, Excel a plus
