The Controls Engineer provides hands-on technical support, troubleshooting, design, and maintenance of automation and control systems throughout the Primary End, including the EAF, LMF, Degasser, Caster, Baghouse, and Refractory areas. The role serves as a technical lead for complex controls issues and projects and works closely with Maintenance, Operations, Engineering, Environmental, and IT to support safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations.
Main Responsibilities / Essential Functions:
- Design, troubleshoot, and maintain automation, controls, and electrical systems.
- Program and maintain PLCs using Allen-Bradley and Siemens platforms.
- Develop and support HMI applications using Ignition, Wonderware, FactoryTalk, and other platforms.
- Analyze plant and process data to support troubleshooting and improvements.
- Lead electrical and controls activities for new equipment installations, including print review.
- Support Level 2 systems, data transfer, system integration, and industrial communications.
- Provide advanced controls and electrical support for EAF, LMF, Degasser, Caster, Refractory, and Baghouse systems.
- Coordinate with IT on industrial network and communication issues.
- Manage automation and controls software licensing and configuration.
