Overview:
Seeking a knowledgeable and safety-focused Rolling Mill Supervisor to oversee daily operations within the rolling mill department. This role is responsible for leading production crews, ensuring safe work practices, maximizing throughput, and maintaining product quality in accordance with customer specifications and company standards.
– The ideal candidate will bring strong technical knowledge of hot or cold rolling processes, team leadership experience, and a continuous improvement mindset.
Key Responsibilities:
Production & Operations
- Supervise rolling mill operations to ensure efficient and continuous production of steel products – long products
- Coordinate mill setups, pass schedules, roll changes, and equipment adjustments.
- Monitor key operating parameters such as temperature, tension, thickness, and speed.
- Minimize downtime and scrap while meeting or exceeding production targets.
- Ensure adherence to all product specifications and customer requirements.
Team Leadership
- Direct, schedule, and support a team of mill operators, helpers, and technicians across assigned shifts.
- Provide hands-on training in safe and effective machine operation
- Enforce company policies and safety protocols (LOTO, PPE, confined space, etc.).
- Conduct shift meetings, assign tasks, and communicate production goals.
Maintenance & Equipment Oversight
- Work closely with maintenance personnel to address mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues in the mill.
- Assist in preventive maintenance planning and ensure timely execution.
- Report and document equipment malfunctions, near-misses, and corrective actions.
