Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Outside Sales Manager to lead and grow our external sales team and drive revenue through new customer acquisition and relationship management within the steel service center industry. This role is responsible for developing strategies, managing key accounts, mentoring sales reps, and promoting our full range of steel products and value-added services (slitting, shearing, plasma cutting, etc.).
Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute territory and account strategies to meet or exceed sales goals
- Cultivate new business relationships while maintaining and expanding existing customer accounts.
- Conduct regular client visits to understand customer needs and provide tailored solutions.
- Collaborate with inside sales, operations, logistics, and purchasing teams to ensure excellent customer service and on-time delivery.
- Stay up-to-date on market trends, competitor activity, and pricing strategies.
- Prepare and deliver sales presentations, quotations, and follow-ups.
- Maintain CRM records, sales forecasts, and pipeline reports.
- Monitor and analyze key metrics including margin, tonnage, and customer retention.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of outside sales experience in the steel industry or industrial metals / manufacturing.
- Proven success in B2B sales, account development, and sales team leadership.
- Strong knowledge of flat-rolled products, bar, plate, tube, and/or coil processing (preferred).
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency with CRM software and MS Office Suite.
- Ability to travel regularly within assigned territory.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Sales, Marketing, or related field preferred — or equivalent experience in the steel industry.
