Overview:
Oversee, guide, and coordinate the efforts of skilled technicians, craftsmen, and project planners to repair and maintain mechanical and/or electrical equipment, ensuring optimal operational efficiency and enhanced reliability. Ideal candidates must demonstrate strong leadership abilities, fostering an environment of respect, clear communication, and teamwork by encouraging open dialogue, fresh ideas, and diverse perspectives that contribute to individual, team, and company success.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise union employees and collaborate closely with vendors and contractors
- Translate specifications, blueprints, and job orders to team members and assign tasks accordingly
- Coordinate, organize, and manage the activities of maintenance crews
- Assist workers in diagnosing and troubleshooting machinery and equipment malfunctions
- Maintain accurate inventories of necessary spare parts to ensure smooth operations
- Collaborate with mechanical/electrical maintenance staff to coordinate repairs and preventive maintenance
- Utilize technical knowledge, equipment manuals, safety protocols, and maintenance schedules to establish, enhance, and implement preventive and routine maintenance plans
- Develop and implement cost-saving strategies
- Create and apply methods and procedures to resolve maintenance issues and improve product quality
- Perform administrative tasks, including scheduling crews, conducting safety meetings, and ensuring compliance with reporting requirements
Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED is required
- Minimum of 10 years of experience supervising teams in a manufacturing or industrial setting
- Ability to work rotating shifts, including extended workdays, weekends, and holidays
Preferred Skills:
- A Bachelor of Science or Associate degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Electrical Technology, Electrical Maintenance, or a similar field, or equivalent practical experience in a large industrial/maintenance environment
- Experience managing unionized employees or leadership experience in a military setting is a plus.
