Supervision:
- Supervise the work of Plant staff.
- Provide training for operating equipment and in procedures.
- Hire and fire employees.
- Monitor plant employee attendance.
Inspection:
- Provide ongoing training to plant employees in inspection procedures.
- Contact Sales Dept. and/or Quality Dept. for assistance in evaluating a potential non-conforming material situation. NOTE: As Plant Manager you have final say as to what meets company standards.
Processing:
- Review work orders to be processed.
- Provide additional processing instructions as needed.
- Coordinate the movement of material throughout the facility.
- Monitor processing activities to verify compliance with procedures and proper inspection are performed.
- Perform Corrective Actions when events happen during processing that cause inefficiencies or excess scrap. Notify the VP of Operations when these events occur.
- Fill in on any of the production jobs when needed.
Production Support:
- Maintenance
- Purchasing
- Monitor inventory of supplies.
- Purchase materials – use bidding to select sources.
- Negotiate scrap contracts and coordinate scrap pick-ups.
- Housekeeping
Minimum Qualifications:
- 5 to 10 years’ experience in metal slitting environment
Knowledge and Skills Preferred:
- Must possess basic reading, writing and math skills
- Related Equipment:
- Slitter including; coil cars, turnstiles, arbors, etc.
- Tooling set-up computer program
- Calipers
- Micrometers
- Olsen
- Rockwell
- Gamma Gauge
