Overview:
A leading Heavy Civil Contractor specializing in road construction and site development is seeking a Fleet Manager. Reporting directly to the President, this role will oversee a team of three shop foremen and manage a fleet consisting of over 100 pieces of heavy equipment and over 100 trucks.
Requirements:
- 5+ Years Fleet Management Experience: The ideal candidate should have at least 5 years of experience in fleet management, preferably in the heavy equipment and trucking industry.
- Experience with Scheduling for Projects and Staffing: Proficiency in developing and managing schedules for equipment deployment to projects, as well as staffing requirements for the shop and field operations.
- Ability to Set Preventative Maintenance Schedules: Strong knowledge and experience in setting and implementing preventative maintenance schedules to ensure optimal performance and longevity of equipment.
- Oversee All Aspects of the Shop: Hands-on experience in overseeing all aspects of a maintenance shop, including inventory management, tooling, equipment repairs, and facility maintenance.
- Experience in Hiring and Firing of Maintenance Employees: Demonstrated ability to recruit, train, and manage maintenance personnel, as well as handle disciplinary actions and terminations when necessary.
- Manage All Vendor Relations: Proven track record of effectively managing relationships with vendors and suppliers, negotiating contracts, and ensuring timely delivery of parts and services.
The successful candidate will possess strong leadership and decision-making skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage resources efficiently. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential for collaborating with internal teams, external vendors, and senior management.
