Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Roadway Superintendent to oversee roadway construction projects (excluding paving). This position is responsible for managing two working foremen and two crews, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, and to specification. The ideal candidate will have extensive roadway construction experience, strong leadership skills, and the ability to coordinate field operations with efficiency and professionalism.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise two roadway crews and two working foremen across active projects
- Direct daily field operations for roadway construction, excluding paving activities
- Interpret project plans, specifications, and schedules; ensure all work meets quality and safety standards
- Coordinate with project managers, inspectors, vendors, and subcontractors to maintain smooth project delivery
- Track quantities, productivity, and resource usage to maximize project efficiency
- Lead safety meetings and enforce OSHA and company safety requirements on-site
- Mentor and provide guidance to foremen and crew members, fostering accountability and teamwork
- Assist with scheduling, logistics, and equipment planning for field operations
Requirements:
- 5+ years of roadway construction supervision experience, preferably as a Superintendent or Foreman managing crews
- Strong knowledge of roadway construction methods including grading, drainage, utilities, and curb & gutter
- Proven leadership experience managing multiple crews and foremen
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and schedules
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency with scheduling and cost-tracking tools a plus
- OSHA and safety certifications strongly preferred
